Silent Night in Irish Sign Language

A student liturgy group was formed this year in Castletroy College, composing mainly of Transition years, with great volunteers from each year group also. They prepared a special Christmas liturgy , including the proceedings having a student MC for each service, a candle ceremony, prayers, readings all compiled at their weekly meetings together with a special Christmas video clip from Ms Martina Murphy’s Religion class.
We had wonderful music and singing in the carol service provided by our talented students, coordinated by Ms Catherine Clohessy, including a unique and wonderful performance of Silent Night in Irish Sign Language from Ms.Cunneen’s TY sign language class.  To accommodate the volume of students in our school ,we had two services. This also meant that  a second  team from the liturgy group could be formed to present the second service. We also had TY volunteers planning the layout and organisation of the Gym together with our Caretaker , Mr. Richie Quinn. We worked together with our Music Dept., our Religion Dept. together with our sign language teacher Ms Anita Cunneen.Thank you to the PE Dept., for the use of the School Gym.
Well done to all students and staff involved.
