Transition Year students, Sophie Higgins, Conor Shortt, Lauren O’Brien and Charles Kujur visited GECAS aviation academy for one week for their work experience. They were introduced by Jane to the aerodynamics and functions of a plane. There was a speaker from Lufthansa informing them about careers in aviation from a engineering point of view. The explained in detail about their personal experience in working in aviation.
Each student got flying time in the simulators throughout the week, They flew to Co.Kerry which was a great experience. A First Officer from Ryanair accompanied each student as they flew a Boeing 767-800 flight simulator.
The students visited the GECAS headquarters, where they were awarded with certificates
for the completion of the course and received GECAS merchandise.
This was an amazing and interesting experience for the Transition Years who participated in this course. If the opportunity arose for students to go again, we would highly recommend that the part-take in this course.
